Senior Publicist
About the Company:
Founded in 2008 by Ross Sapir, Roadway Moving is built on the core principles of accountability, kindness, generosity, and dedication. These values drive a culture of excellence, where our people, not just our trucks, set us apart in a crowded industry. We believe in investing in both our employees and our clients, fostering an environment rooted in respect, urgency, clear communication, and appreciation. At Roadway, we don’t just move boxes, we move lives, and we do it with a commitment to making the experience remarkable for everyone involved.
Roadway Moving has spent almost 20 years building something people notice when they experience it. Now we want them to read about. We are hiring a Senior Publicist to earn that coverage. It is an individual contributor role, close to the Founder and CEO and close to the work, focused on proactive pitching, Tier 1 relationships, and stories that land in places that carry weight. We are looking for curiosity, judgment, and drive more than a playbook. If you can look at an expansion, a partnership, a customer insight, or a cultural moment and find the angle a journalist actually wants, you will have plenty to work with at Roadway.
What you will do
Own our national earned media strategy, from angle to placement to amplification
Build real relationships across business, consumer, real estate, lifestyle, design, sports, entertainment, and culture media
Secure interviews, features, expert commentary, broadcast, and contributed content
Shape the founder narrative around our growth, our standards, and our people
Run an annual media calendar tied to business milestones, seasonal moments, and new markets
Establish local authority in every market we expand into
Find the proprietary data and insights inside our business that make a story different
Monitor coverage, flag what lands, and report weekly on pipeline, wins, and what you are trying next
Work directly with our SVP of Marketing and our Founder and CEO
What success looks like
A pipeline that is always moving. Consistent pickup in Tier 1 and credible regional press. A founder who is visible, quoted, and invited. Reporters who come back to you because you are a reliable source of a good story. Coverage that shows people what Roadway actually is, a premium brand built on service, scale, and people.
What you bring
5 to 8+ years in publicity, earned media, or media relations
Placements you personally secured, and the pitches behind them
Existing relationships with journalists who take your call
News judgment sharp enough to find the story in a Tuesday operations update
Persistence that adapts. A no becomes a better angle, not a dead end.
Strong writing and executive level messaging
Fluency with AI, media databases, social listening, and reputation monitoring tools
Comfort in a founder led business where good ideas move fast
Preferred background: high growth consumer brands, founder led companies, real estate, luxury services, sports, entertainment, or hospitality. Anywhere you had to create news rather than wait for it.
The details
Ongoing, full time engagement as a 1099 independent contractor, Based anywhere in the United States. Experience in a major media market, New York especially, current relationships with national reporters and editors, and comfort with the pace that comes with both.
Compensation is $7,000 to $10,000 per month, roughly $84,000 to $120,000 annually, based on experience and location.
Why Roadway?
We care about the people who work here, and we put real effort behind that. That looks like training that actually prepares you, managers who coach instead of just assign, and clear paths to grow. It looks like knowing the people you work with. It looks like being trusted with real work early. We have teams across the United States and internationally, and they get the same version of this company. Same standards, same investment, same care. Where you sit does not change what you get from us. The thing we believe most: how we treat our people shows up in how our customers are treated. That is not a slogan for us, it is how we make decisions. Our employees rate us a 93 on employee Net Promoter Score, our customers rate us between 4.5 and 4.9, and we have been named a Stevie Award Employer of the Year three times, including Gold for Talent Acquisition. We are proud of that, and we know it only stays true if we keep earning it.
